Courses in Nigeria and even in the UK of all things are automatically "inferior"? Take it from me, American universities are hardly known for their high standards at the undergraduate level, research programs notwithstanding. The statement that this man should not even bother applying because he has no chance to get in--that can't possibly be true, especially where private dental schools are concerned. And even if American dental schools really do look down on international applicants, why not attend dental school in the UK, Australia, or somewhere else? Why should this man simply give up on being a dentist? The comment by J.P. seems not only unsupported by evidence, but cruel.

Thanks for your reply. Are you saying that as an international student,I should not bother to come in and take prerequisite courses in the states because of my slim chances of getting in? the evaluation bodies like wes reviews transcripts and they would say it's equivalent to a US first degree? why would you not even consider a masters' from the UK?

Adetoye, you would need to study and take all of your pre-requiste courses in the U.S. since your Nigerian and UK credits are viewed as inferior and not acceptable for admission. Being an international student already lowers your chances for acceptance. I would honestly consider another career choice given the slim chance of your acceptance possibilities. Good luck.

I just wanted to ask your opinion on this:I have just graduated from a Nigerian University.I intend to study dentistry in the USA,could I take the DAT and file an application for admission? will they accept me that way? or must I do some college work in the USA since I have fulfilled all the dental admission prerequisite? If I did a MASTERS' programme in the UK and apply to study dentistry, would this improve my chances for acceptance into a dental school? thanks for your reply.
