Yes, Dr. Pehde is the Director of the Amputation Prevention and Research Fellowship, 2 per year. It's more about leadership and clinical/surgical-based. That's full for 2024/5. It's currently undergoing application for CPME approval. This is a separate fellowship and Dr. Lavery is the director...

    Becoming ABFAS certified

In defense of this, we made it a $295 one-time cost to sit for a CAQ. There are no increases in your annual dues. That's probably the best deal in podiatric examinations/certifications.

    Becoming ABFAS certified

Glad you finally got it so you can now get a job. *You’re just repeating the myth. In reality, ABPM does more to help young podiatrists with privileges than any other organization in the profession. Because ABFAS is always trying to gate keep the OR. It’s harming the profession.

    Becoming ABFAS certified

Congratulations! And there should just be one board in Podiatric medicine and surgery. No one should have to be “double-boarded”. End of story.

ABFAS didn’t send me a thank you note. [emoji2373] This passed the APMA HOD in March.

    Memes of Podiatry

Not surprising. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you rewrite the standards. CPME changed its standard on APMLE board pass rates last year. *They also don’t publish their Conflicts of Interest or recusal from votes on Council decisions.

When to hold 'em, when to fold 'em

10-12 SDN posters mostly specialize in digging an imaginary grave for podiatry and then dancing on that grave by taking credit for, and relishing in, their perceived success in limiting future competition by painting a picture of doom and gloom for those interested in a career in podiatry. The...

    The SDN Effect?

The way I read CPME 120 standards, schools must demonstrate at least a 75% pass rates on APMLE Part I (cumulative, and averaged over 3 years). If someone is aware of students graduating without passing Part I, you should use the CPME 925 form and make a complaint.

If anyone experiences an instance where ABPM is not accepted for all privileges, you can contact the board HQ and we have a committee and a privileging attorney that helps remedy that. We’ve been successful in nearly every case. I only recall 2 that we were unable to help, but there were other...

    Anticoagulation protocols

I agree that post-op anticoagulation is generally not indicated (without a history or risk factors) for F&A surgery. But PICA actually disagrees. That’s because of the large payouts on a small number of cases. But documentation on the discussion of risks and being diligent and responsive to...
