    playing the game

As far as 2nd looks go, I think it's absolutely for the applicant's benefit only. Yeah you show interest in that particular program but beyond that it doesn't help much from the program's point of view. Also, it is difficult to integrate the person into a busy day (and there are no other kinds...

Anyone use Bank of America for their physician's mortgage loan program? Good, bad, or ugly?

    Official 2006 ROL Thread

    1. U of Rochester (NY)-solid academically, extremely friendly/laid back residents, great research, Fred Howard international expert on laparoscope and pelvic pain, have sent residents to fellowships and have a couple (MFM, Urogyn) in house, only rotate through 2 hospitals, cheap standard of...

    Research Year vs. Prelim

Have you thought about a career in housekeeping? I hear it can pay as much as $5 a job! PM me if you're interested.

    4th year electives

First, I think you should try to schedule one ob/gyn rotation, either general or one of the specialties. This should be an away rotation at a program that you want to check out, unless you are dead set on your home institution. This will give you a little more prespective about differences in...

    fellowships...how difficult?

REI has recently had a ratio of 4:1 (applicants:spots) and gyn onc is perennially competitive with a range of 4-10:1! MFM is almost 1:1 but the "prestigious" programs and those with prime location are obviously quite competitive. I've been advised that in order to get into these programs one...

    Penn State/Hershey Medical Center

I think there are 3 in pgy 1-3, there is 1 or 2 more in the chief class, but they'll be gone next year.

    Penn State/Hershey Medical Center

    Penn State/Hershey Medical Center

I know this program well. The main reason for their non-filling is due to the location. The PD and chair both told me that in the past, after the match, they have called applicants that matched elsewhere and asked them what they thought about HMC. They said the usual answer from the...

    night float

It seems easier to mention those w/out a nite float. Of all the places I know about/interviewed at, those one's without were: GW on gyn with nite float on OB months, Kaiser LA, Dartmouth, and Duke while they're at their community hospitals.

    Interview Experiences

U of Rochester Dinner was at a resident's house, great turn-out by residents with every one being very very friendly. There were 4 interviews. Everyone met individually with the chair, PD, or assistant PD, a full time faculty member, a part time faculty member, and a resident. Very laid...

    thank you letter from magee?

Same question as the Hopkins thread, did everyone else that interviewed at Magee get a letter? I was there in early december, just wondering.

    thank you letter from hopkins?

I didn't interview at Hopkins, so I can't comment on the letter/residents' appearance, but I worked with an attending who is a recent graduate of the program. She categorically denied any malignancy, said it was a great place to train with great teaching from attendings, as opposed to...

    Interview Experiences

Duke U Dinner the night before at a resident's house, well attended by residents of all years. They all seemed very friendly and open to honestly discussing the program. There were about 20 applicants, everyone had an interview with an individual faculty member and then 3-4 applicants...
