What do you like most?

  • My experience at Marshall has been wonderful. I have felt strongly supported throughout all four years with academic and career advisors in addition to peer support through the mentor program. I feel like the school sets you up for success and actively reviews/listens to feedback from students. Nothing is perfect but they genuinely try and address things. Clinical rotations are also very fruitful. Medical staff and anicallary staff are positive and understanding towards your role as a student. Attendings, fellows, residents, and medical staff are interested in your learning and when asked will be eager to talk to you about specific topics. You will get exposed to lots of different and unique pathology due to the patient population. Research exposure and experience is also growing and becoming a area of focus to continue to grow.

🧾 The Details

What are the facilities and clinics like (old/new, well maintained, etc.)?

How do students from this program do after graduation - are they adequately prepared for practice?

  • Yes, Marshall does a great job preparing you to write notes, evaluate patients, procedures, treatment plans, etc. Very hands on.
  • **I hear** we typically have residents that are VERY well prepared to patient care due to the extensive pt experience during school. We place residents all over the US and many are able to match in competitive residency programs like Ortho and Neurosurgery (if they are interested and bust their butts during school).

Any other information you want to share?

  • Several basic science faculty that have very active and prestigious research labs. Director of clinical research is very helpful. Pt contact comes early and often. As a third year student, you are actively participating in everyday care of your hospital patients. Appropriate autonomy is given to both students and residents.
