School Info
The Ohio State University College of Optometry is a leader in optometric education in the United States and is the only optometry program in Ohio. It is the oldest university-based program in the nation and was the first public university program to grant the Doctor of Optometry degree. We share the resources of the most comprehensive health sciences center in the U.S.
Curriculum
The fourth year curriculum includes three externship programs that provide extensive training and hands-on exposure to a variety of practice settings, including primary care, co-management clinics, VA hospitals, ophthalmology practices, and community clinical facilities, ensuring a diverse patient base. You will have the opportunity to see many hundreds of patients with different conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes, and other diseases. Clinical externships are available in Ohio and many other states as well.
Facilities
The new E. F. Wildermuth Optometric Research Clinic is scheduled to open in early 2007. This state of the art facility will allow the College of Optometry to continue to be at the forefront of vision research and patient care.
