Curriculum
The four-year Doctor of Optometry curriculum at the Southern California College of Optometry is designed to prepare you as a primary health-care professional for the practice of optometry in the twenty-first century. The program includes a strong basic science component that stresses human anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and therapeutic pharmacology, as well as clinical patient care and practice administration and management.
Facilities
SCCO`s Clinical Education Department is composed of two components ? the Eye Care Clinic (ECC), located on the Fullerton campus, and the Outreach Clinical Programs. SCCO operates the most extensive off-campus optometric clinical program in the world. You may select from more than 85 clinical programs in 22 states, Canada, Guam and Japan. Outreach facilities are located in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Fourth-year students spend three quarters of their final year assigned to external outreach clinical sites, and one quarter at the College`s Eye Care Clinic.
