"Previous interviews. Wrote up a list of questions. Read as much about the school as possible."
"Um...I brushed my teeth, combed my hair, showered, etc. The whole "researching" questions for preparation is a joke. If you can't get in there and answer things on the spot you have no business getting into dentistry."
"SDN's website, came up with answers for generic interview questions, skimmed UNMC's dental website (even though I really didn't have to do this)"
"SND, Personal Statement, Interviewed with my wife"
"SDN, read over my application, printed and studied material on UNMC"

"School comrardery"
"Everything, they are so personable"
"Everyone at the dental school (students, faculty, professors) was extremely inviting and you could tell that they really are a giant family."
"Facilities, people were really nice, everyone seemed to know everyone. Got a free toothbrush and pizza lunch :)"
"Entire staff was super friendly and some students stopped by while we waited to interview to wish us good luck. Dr Voght is interesting and fun to talk to"
"Such a friendly environment--staff, students and faculty. Everyone seemed delighted to be there."
"Very laid back, and seemed very interested in you as a student."
"They pay 85% of the difference between out of state and in state tuition for all out of state students they accept. Very nice and new facilities. They take boards after the first year (although will be done away with after ADA switches to one set of boards-2013)."
"Everyone was so nice and they just recently finished a 3 year rennovation to the entire facility... very nice! Also, every dental school needs a Glenda because she is an awesome lady."
"Friendly and laid-back"
"Friendly staff, quality of the students...and, of course, the new electric toothbrush!"
"The interaction of faculty (especially Dr. Vogt)with the students, the recently renovated facility, the Oral B professional care toothbrush, and lunch with D1 students."
"Very informative tour and presentation. Also, loved getting to go to lunch with some of the current students without the interviewers present."
"Everything. The facilities are undergoing a large-scale rennovation, but the end result will be very nice. The faculty and students were incredibly nice and made me feel right at home. Every student raved about the school and had no negative words to say. They also continually rank at the top of the nation in test scores."
"Everything--has a small class size, first part of Boards after the first year, friendly faculty, etc. The interview was laid back, yet everyone present was very attentive. Gracious, accessible faculty and staff."
"The staff were all really nice, and the students love being there. They also treat you to a free buffet lunch at Valentinos, and gave the interviewees Braun electric toothbrushes. "
"Very friendly atmosphere, students seemed enthusiastic. They take Nat'l Boards part 1 after 1st year to get it out of the way"
"Every student we past by seemed happy to be there and they had great interaction with the faculty."
"Class size, curriculum (NDBE I after D1), graduation rates (1 person in last 10 years did not graduate)."
"Everybody was so happy. All the administrators were extremely personal. U. Col. we didn't even get to meet any of the staff except for a few panelists."
"I liked that it was pretty easy going in the beginning. Listening to people talk and the slide show projection helped relax me before the interview. Everyone was just really nice making you feel like you were wanted there."
"In-state tuition for out of staters, football atmosphere, location, boards after first year"
"The school was very impressive, they had updated the labs, so you have a great teaching school, and now the new labs to back that up. Also, UNMC is always in the top 10 on their boards."
"recently updated labs"
"The head of admissions gives a 60 minute power point presentation on the many benefits of the school. He answered every question that I came with during teh presentation. It showed that they really wanted to give students all the information they wanted to know. Clinic just got remodeled. According to UNMC they have had the highest (or 2nd highest) average gpa in the nation for entering freshmen for the past 8 years. In the top ten in nation for scores on boards 1 & 2."
"They make you feel very important and wanted. The students like it there. It seems like the staff and students get along well. "
"I was really impressed. They do well on boards, and the students really like it there. Also, they are renovating the labs so everything will be new in two years. Plus, nonresidents get resident tuition from day one. Not a bad deal. Also a small class size limited to 40-45 students. And of course Nebraska football."
"The people and the curriculum, as well as how well their graduates do on the boards and liscensure exams"
"The facilities were older, but still nice. The faculty was great and so were the current students. "
"The upperclass students seemed really happy with their preparation. "
"Age of facilities"
"There was no chance to talk about yourself during the interview. You were given 2 minutes to read a scenario and 4 minutes to answer it. That was it. There were 3 stations, each with 2 interviewers and 2 questions. Also, some of the interviewers just stared blankly as I answered the questions, while others at least smiled and nodded."
"Nothing much..."
"Not a whole lot."
"The interviewers sometimes rushed the interview and interrupted one another"
"Nothing. This is a great school."
"Nothing."
"N/A"
"Nothing. Even Lincoln was a pretty cool town. "
"Students said the dental anatomy class is really boring."
"Really nothing!"
"None"
"Absolutely nothing. I interviewed at many schools, including some that are commonly regarded as cutting edge, and I thought that UNMC was easily the best program for me."
"Nothing, the facility looked great. I guess life in Lincoln doesn't know much outside of Husker football, that could be a problem."
"I guess I didn't feel like the interview questions really let me tell them the good things about me."
"Not much"
"no mountains"
"nothing"
"gpa very important at this school. seems like they focus a little too much on it."
"Lincoln is not exactly a booming metropolis"
"Can't do research your first year. Not a lot to do other than school and watch a football game or two. But, hey you're in dental school...."
"The antagonistic interview style"
"Lincoln"
"Students and faculty didn't seem to have a good relationship. My interview may have been a good reflection of faculty attitudes. "
"It was closed file"
"That they don't give as large of OOS scholarships as they used to"
"I wish I knew that Nebraska residents get priority, followed by student from states that do not have dental schools. I am neither of those, unfortunately, although I love the school."
"That the staff and interviewers will make you feel at ease the whole day"
"How laid back the interview truly was. They just want to get a feel for who you are, it is not a grilling bombardment of questions."
"It is VERY laid back"
"That it would be a panel interview."
"I wish I had known that the interview was far less stressful than I had been expecting it to be. Very informal and conversational."
"There is a lot of walking. We had to walk a couple of blocks off of campus to go to lunch. Wear comfortable shoes!"
"N/A"
"The school is undergoing a fairly major remodel, so there is a lot of construction going on.. but it's going to look great when they're done. "
"The science teachers for freshman students are mostly PhDs and not dentists. "
"All out of state students are given an automatic scholarship neutralizing the difference between in and out of state tuition"
"You don't have to cut your own cadavers in anatomy. This takes a bunch of time out of studying/lab work."
"Nothing, the place was great. 7 interviews and I honestly thought this was my best place ahead of Case, U Col, Ohio St, Oregon, U. Pacific, U Conn, and Washington...Nebraska beat them all believe it or not."
"I wish they told me that I would be given the tour w/5 other students and that the interview only lasts about 15 minutes."
"Not much"
"nothing"
"I didn't have to study up so much about UNMC on my own, they tell you EVERYTHING you ever would want to know about the school in a presentation before the interview."
"How great a school Nebraska is. You would be a fool not to at least check it out. Also resident tuition scholarships for all non-residents accepted."
"Great school from the curriculum, students, and faculty"
"Great school, awesome class size, Lincoln is a nice town"
"Overall, the day was structured nicely and it wasn't too stressful. I just wish they would integrate more questions that gave you a chance to talk about yourself."
"Great program and school."
"Would most definitly be a place that I would consider attending."
"This is a great school with a long tradition of top quality dental graduates. I would be very happy to go here."
"I love this school, the faulty, and students. Wishing December 1st would come sooner."
"I had a very good time and can't wait to start school there in August!"
"My top choice. "
"It was great. They told me I should re-take the DAT, to bring up my PAT and math sections. The atmosphere was really relaxed. They asked a few specifics about my application, but nothing that was difficult. "
"It was very short (about 20 mins) but the visit to the school took 1/2 a day while they answered questions, provided a tour, took me out to lunch, etc."
"I had high gpa and DAT scores so I think they definitely went easy on me in the interview."
"The interview experience was positive. A total of six interviewees were present. Dr. Kuster is pretty much the nicest guy in the world and gives a nice tour of the facilities."
"Walked in a room, sat down with two people and casual carried on a conversation. Question weren't threatened but rather relaxed like you might talk to a relative you haven't seen in years."
"I had two interviewers. They were fairly easy going, but I didn't like the questions that much."
"It was pretty good, I wish it wasnt my first interview because it is one of our top choices."
"really laid back, standard questions"
"The interview was good, students as well , also a very informative powerpoint was given"
"Meet at 9:00 am and go to powerpoint presentation about the school. 10:00 tour the school and clinic. 11:00 interview."
"I was very pleasantly suprised by the school. Out-of-state paying the same as in state is really nice, I just wish they took more out of state people. Everybody there seems really happy, and they do extremely well on the boards."
"The interview wasn't bad all all. UConn was way more difficult than this interview. Nebraska really makes you feel lucky to be there. Of the five interviews chose to go to, Nebraska impressed me the most."
"It was a great experience. The faculty was so helpful and nice. The school is nice, but the areas where you can live are kind of a dive."
"During the interview, I felt like I was being deposed by Ken Starr. "
