"I did their mock interview which was offered by SNMA (Student National Medical Association) at WSU. I also had to practice talking to the computer camera and I did that by purchasing a few resources for that."
"MMI Prep"
"Read MMI practice questions and responses; studied ESFCOM's website; studied my application"
"Nothing. Ran through a few MMI scenarios, but you can’t really prep"
"Went over my application (no need for this in hindsight), practiced articulating my motivation for medicine, went over general practice questions"
"practice MMI questions"
"Practiced MMI questions, reviewed application"
"The interview was pretty much all day and it was exciting to learn more about the school and what it has to offer. The staff seemed to be very genuine and helpful."
"Coordination and resources on campus"
"Faculty and students were wonderful and kind. Facilities were nice. Spokane is a nice place."
"Camaraderie among students and faculty"
"Nice little campus, laid back vibe. All of the students seem very enthusiastic to be going there, and most seem very "chill". Awesome school if you are interested in rural medicine in Washington w/their community-based curriculum and clinical sites."
"warmth and relaxed demeanor of interviewers"
"The school very clearly cares about the success of their students and seems to do everything in their power to help their students succeed. They also have resources available to their students even after they have graduated."
"Nothing, I thought everything was great."
"Having to tour before interview while other group interviewed then toured"
"Separate from WSU main campus (which is in Pullman, WA) so there aren't many student amennities to have access to. No affordable parking near campus."
"Majority of the campus tour seemed irrelevant and more just something to do for the group who wasn’t interviewing"
"Currently (Dec. 2018) seems like a bit of an experiment, and they are figuring things out along the way. A couple of the students gave off the "I'm so great/entitled millennial" vibe, which was kindof annoying."
"I am not a fan of having different regional sites for years 3 and 4 with questionable input into which one you will be placed at for 2 years."
"Not to stress as much"
"That the MMI was going to be really chill and easy."
"How chill the MMI was and how warm/friendly the interviewers were"
"That they truly do their best to make you feel at ease on the interview day and during the interview. There are no acting scenarios and no questions specifically designed to stress you out."
"I was nervous about the MMI format, but it was actually just fine. The scenarios were pretty simple and the interviewers were very nice and help you feel calm."
"Great in-state school"
"You get the opportunity to interact with a number of the students (you have lunch with them and go on a tour with them), see the anatomy lab, and see most of the campus (which is tiny). Seems a little risky for now since having only started a couple years ago (Dec. 2018 when I interviewed), but WSU in general has a reputable name and is a quality university. My advice would be to go here if you for sure to go into rural medicine in Washington, but otherwise I would pursue other opportunities."
"the 13 minute one on one went by fast"
"Clearly an excellent program. Although it is new, I would have no concerns about the quality of education I would receive from this school."
