"Why both degrees?" Report Response | I was asked this question too
"Have you had any sort of clinical exposure? (no major EC's like that in my file)" Report Response | I was asked this question too
"Tell me about your current research project(s)." Report Response | I was asked this question too
"What are some avenues of translational research that will bring currently broad genomics prowess to bear on specific clinical needs, and generally how do the various -genomics fields change medical research paradigms? " Report Response | I was asked this question too
"None really. I was asked a question or two about my research that I could not answer, but outside of research-specific questions, I just got the normal "Why both degrees..." etc." Report Response | I was asked this question too
"Read AMCAS, secondary essays, and my own research. I also read my interviewers' stuff, at least the abstracts, but this was not very useful. " Report Response
"What didn't? I knew little of the school and less of the city. The schools' financial and material resources are both significant. I really liked all of the students and faculty that I met. I have interviewed at three schools so far (good schools!) and Pitt did by far the best sales job on me! They also scheduled comparatively long periods of time between interviews, and I ended up talking to the faculty guys for over an hour each. Each one was also appropriate to my fields of interest. The fairly progressive and integrated curriculum also was attractive. The city seems fine.. clean by our standards, and relatively low-crime. There are good, cheap college eats available in Oakland. In short, the effort that the institution and the MDPhD office are putting into elevating the status of their already-quite good program is impressive. " Report Response
"Maybe the weather in Pitt is a little on the dreary side. Perhaps a student or faculty member should give the tour... " Report Response
"No need to read faculty research before going. Maybe just check the general research interests, but don't bother reading." Report Response
"Best yet. You have nothing to be afraid of at Pitt: they are good people and they try to make things comfortable." Report Response
