"Read over my AMCAS, read interview sections in 2 med school prep books I have (Barrons and Kaplan), read the school's website (which was partly down and painfully slow) and read this site, which was by far the most helpful." Report Response

What impressed you positively?

"The fact that my interviewer was as concerned with answering my questions about Downstate as he was about asking me questions. My tour guides were great, too. Downstate's big selling point is the excellent clinical experience, so both my interviewer and tour guides discussed that aspect of the school. It really eroded my previous snobbish attitude about attending a state school." Report Response

What impressed you negatively?

"The facilities are nothing fancy. Also, the school-owned housing isn't much more affordable than local independent housing." Report Response

What did you wish you had known ahead of time?

"Nothing really. My dad went to Downstate, so he briefed me pretty well." Report Response

What are your general comments?

"Extremely low stress, it was a pretty comfortable conversation. The admissions staff were very friendly and my tour guides were hilarious, very informative and amenable to answering my reams of questions." Report Response
