I take it you are willing to consider Harvard HST as opposed to MD/PhD? Have you gone to WashU yet?•••
Hey Baylor21:
I'm not completely ruling out the Harvard HST (regular MD) option. Though if I'm lucky enough to get accepted there, I'll probably look into the possibility of doing a PhD in addition. However, this option isn't looking good at all because of the alarming # of years that might take (I'm guessing at least 10yrs). Also, Boston is so ridiculously expensive; and if I have to hussle for my own funding, life isn't going to be easy. I will interview at WashU next week. I think I have a good shot there because of the compatibility between my math background and their computational Bio and neuro programs. Duke has offered me an amazingly sweet deal. In my opinion they have the best curriculum of all the schools. I'll graduate in 7yrs with 4 solid years of PhD work included; and no sacrifices made to the quality or length of the clinical training. The school is great and the cost of living in Durham is unbeatable. I'll actually be able to buy a house there in my first year as a good number of Duke MSTPs do. One can totally escape the impoverished grad student rite of passage which is inevitable at most other schools. And for a nice finishing touch, I'll get a free lap-top there
. As of now, Duke is definitely at the top of my list; though it is very possible that if given a chance, I might matriculate at WashU or HST next year. Who knows? we might be classmates
Though the title of this thread "2006" is not appropriate for us. We're in it for the long haul. You know we're gonna get old and grey in this game
